January 6, 2021

Community Council Members Present: Hillary Barton, Whitney Greenhalgh, Jacci Strain, Kevin Chase, Kayla Eborn, Mary Burrell.
Community members present: Levi Burrell (6th grade student), Cindy Peterson - librarian)
Introduction and welcome: Hillary Barton

Time turned over to Kevin Chase

a. Fiscal report of current year spending and attainment of current year goals.
b. Title one report of current year spending and attainment of current year goals.
c. Explanation of what concerns are being seen by the school and possible solutions to those concerns:
1. Reading levels of students: aide time to help in small groups
Reading Horizons phonics program
Imagine Learning online
2. Math levels of students: Aide time help in small groups
online learning helps

Open discussion of other possible needs-

Whitney G - concern for English Language Learners and Technology (iPads, Chromebooks, and working Smart Boards)
Mary B - Playground ideas to make it more engaging for upper grades. (Corn hole, Velcro Ball, Frisby, Chalk, etc.)
Kayla Eborn - Reading interest is low, how do we get books of higher interest, and then know about them better. (Explanation of how to order books through librarian, and Cindy explained that she reads a section of books to create interest.)
Kayla Eborn suggested peer tutoring when there isn't a pandemic going on. (explanation of what peer tutoring use to look like.)

Next meeting was set for Febuary 10th at 3PM in the library.
