 Information on flexible learning

Students and Parents,

Welcome to flexible learning in Weber School District! Over the summer, and especially over the past few weeks, the incredibly talented and dedicated teachers in our school have been diligently preparing to teach safely and effectively in-person and online. Now that in-person learning is underway, teachers are refining their skills with the new elementary learning management system Canvas in order to provide the best online learning experiences possible for your child.

As you know, long-term flexible learning is a quarter-by-quarter solution for students who choose a fully-online learning experience for at least one full quarter. Each quarter, families determine whether they will continue with Long-term Flexible Learning for the next quarter or return to In-Person Learning. Within this option:

  • Students work from home on assignments in English language arts, math, and science provided digitally by a classroom teacher.
  • Teachers provide online learning experiences that focus on essential skills and include some teacher-student interaction. An online advocate will be assigned to assist families with flexible learning.
  • Parents and/or Guardians will be responsible to support and enrich the curriculum.

You can expect online classrooms and online learning experiences to begin appearing for your child during the week of August 31. During the first week it may be that only a few essential assignments and a getting-to-know-you activity are given. This allows the student to ease into the new learning environment and for the parent, teacher, and online advocate to help navigate any technical needs. This also mirrors what is happening for students in-person as they spend part of the school day mastering school procedures, getting to know their teacher and classmates, and beginning to address essential learning targets.

Students may access their online classroom by going to canvas.wsd.net and clicking “Student Login.” Here students will then enter their Weber School District email address and password to login. If students do not know or remember this information they should visit myweber.wsd.net and follow these steps:

  1. Click "STUDENT Password Reset" (bottom left)
  2. Enter their Student ID
  3. Enter Student Birthdate and Phone number on file

If the student still cannot login, please verify that your student has signed the digital Appropriate Use Policy and contact the school at 801-452-4120 for help resetting the password.

As a parent you can view all of your child’s online classrooms and learning experiences by going to canvas.wsd.net and entering the email and password you use to access MyWeber in the white boxes. If you do not remember your login information or have not yet set up a MyWeber account, visit myweber.wsd.net and click “Guardian Creation/Password Reset.”
